Survivalists - from marginalized laughing-stocks to future leaders?
[+]
Interesting read. I'm not sure if Victoria likes the idea but not those who implement it? Seems there's some criticism of those who practice survivalism but still some support for the belief that we should strive for a more organic culture.
Most survivalists are probably like those depicted in the article's photo - there's a gas-guzzling Range Rover, but two people in army fatigues w/ machine guns. If that's a "survivalist", count me out. Those are called militias. I like the ideas propagated by Michael Arth and John Feeney, as well as the Corrupt.org writers - society isn't a bad idea, modern society is; we just need better people to lead and less of a focus on the individual, as well as economic growth rates, and more of a focus on smaller, more organic communities. Imagine a society like that and tell me we'd still have any self-labeled "survivalists".

Patriots ready to be indemnified against further wrongdoing
Thankfully, truth has finally reigned in the debate over just how much of an advantage the Patriots may have had when taping a few defensive signals here and there throughout the course of Bill Belichick's tenure as head coach.

This article seems to prove without a doubt that Mr. Walsh was just trying to gain some attention and cause an uproar among the masses, who now care nothing of the merit behind their original claims of "cheating", despite the fact that Walsh has nothing to offer that the NFL didn't already know and to which Belichick hasn't already admitted doing.
We need to stop pointing the finger at the successful individuals in our society, turn that finger back around, and figure out what we can do to make our own lives better every day. Stop hating on the successful among us who are dedicated to their profession and live your own life, not the lives of others!

Batra
There comes a point when the intellectual acquisitors are virtually unchallenged; that is when the process of wealth concentration runs full throttle, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer at incredible speeds. The boundless hypocrisy of acquisitive intellectuals ultimately torments the majority of people. Salaries go down, and the bulk of society is forced to devote much of its time to making money. Warriors and intellectuals then have to become laborers and are left with little time for the finer pursuits of life. They have to labor hard to support themselves and their children. The intellectual's inherent love for art, music, painting and philosophy give way to routine work all day long to provide the means for family survival. The warrior's innate predilection for adventure and sport is replaced by overtime work to make ends meet. The vast majority of society comes to adopt the laborer's way of living and thinking.
Only two classes then remain - acquisitors and laborers, or the haves and have-nots. The age of acquisitors eventually turns into the age of laborers, which may now be called the acquisitive-cum-labor age, in which the acquisitive intellectual is dominant.
For a while, people suffer through the deceit and exploitation of the reigning class. They maintain their lifestyle by increasingly getting into debt. Acquisitors now have a field day. They make money left and right. They enrich themselves through their control over businesses, farms, and factories, and through lending money to the other classes.
This is right about where we as a society find ourselves now, Batra argues.

The Azzurri, Marshalls, and weird fishes
Went to Marshalls last night with the missus. This was a really "nice" one, one town over. They had an okay selection of men's stuff; most of it seemed to be women's and houseware type stuff though. I had to listen to some illegal immigrant talk on her phone about some "white bitch" who pissed her off while she was driving, or something. Gotta love ingrates...that "white bitch" very likely helps pay the government's rent fee on the project she lives in. OK, maybe that's unfair. Actually, screw it, it's not. When people act like trash in public, alternating between spanish and english on a cell phone and being damn sure everyone around them can hear EXACTLY what they're saying, I can't help but to assume the person IS trash. Show me otherwise and I'll change my mind, but in the meantime, you're nothing.
Then the very talented, very qualified cash register jockeys at Marshalls completely ignored me for 15 minutes. If not for my wife's stuff, I would have dropped the stuff I had and just left the store. One woman even went so far as to go alllllll the way around me to the other side of the line and wait in back of another woman at a register...which was akin to cutting me in line. I blew past her in my car on the way out of the parking lot, though SO WHO GOT THE LAST LAUGH?? HUH?? Yeah, I'm sick.
After a lovely dinner prepared by the missus - no, really! [Edit: this comment, "no, really!" was not taken well by the missus. What i mean here is that everything else in this blog is sarcastic, but I was being quite serious when I wrote that my dinner was lovely. My wife can outcook you AND your mother any day of the week. Continue on!] - including fish and veggies, I then listened to a song called "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" from the new Radiohead album. Very appropriate. That song is really good - go download it, it's nearly free (http://www.radiohead.com/).
