Ayn Rand: More Idiocy In The Media

Collective socialism tends to inhibit innovation, and no one captured this idea more perfectly than Ayn Rand. I think in the context of what America should be today, Ayn Rand's ideas generally work - of course, they're a bit oversimplified and I do not believe her work is a manual on how to run society, as some do. Still, she was a great writer and Atlas Shrugged was her magnum opus: integrating great character stories with her philosophy perfectly.

In hilarious fashion, writer Alex Beam delves right into the Ayn caricature of the typical elitist who pretends he's doing a favor for the masses - by criticizing a book and a philosophy he admits he's never read:

I would be the first to admit that I don't know much about Ayn Rand, beyond her name. The Ayn rhymes with dine, and Rand is supposedly an Americanization of her birth name Rosenbaum. I have heard the operatic details of her personal life, (much younger lover, proves to be fickle; drama ensues) and have a crude understanding of Objectivism, the "morality of rational egoism" that Brook cites above. Private entrepreneurialism = good; centrally planned, government-funded economy = bad.

As it happens, America's most prominent Randie is probably former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan, who presided over one of the most grandiose expansions of government expenditures in world history. In 1982, Greenspan attended Rand's funeral, where her body lay next to a large floral arrangement of a dollar sign. R.I.P.

Alex Beam knows nothing of the economy, and nothing of Ayn Rand, only knows that Alan Greenspan attended Rand's funeral and that he presided over government expenditures. Those expenditures were caused by politicians, public pressure, silly world trade agreements - take your pick, but it wasn't Greenspan, who admitted after he left his post that most of what he had done was against what he believed in. But we can't speak out against the sanctity of the Federal Reserve falsely controlling the money supply, because that's an existing institution in the US and Rand is dead, so it's easy to make fun of her without ever reading her books.

Good work Alex, can't wait to read your next article!

John LaBruzzo is eased aside after controversial eugenics plan

John LaBruzzo is a Republican State Representative from Louisiana, and a member of the House of Representatives Health and Welfare committee. Corrupt.org has been following his story since the news broke that he wanted to offer welfare recipients incentives to be sterilized in an attempt to scale back some of the welfare abuse in his home state.

Obviously, LaBruzzo was removed from his leadership role as vice chairman on the aforementioned committee. Even if you don't support eugenics policies, it would have been a great springboard for a debate, but apparently no one in the Louisiana State House of Representatives was up for such a debate.

I helped write the script to the video posted below, and Corrupt.org links below will do a better job than I can of explaining their viewpoint and why they support LaBruzzo. Please check these links out. For those of us who are not weak and would have something to contribute to a better society, don't feel guilty about agreeing with some of what LaBruzzo says - he's not Hitler, he's just a realist, and we are all better off with like-minded individuals than force-fitting multiculturalism into what was supposed to be a Libertarian, free-market society.

Populations starve while national resources are literally burned up in mid-air

SRIHARIKOTA, India (Reuters) – India launched its first unmanned moon mission on Wednesday following in the footsteps of rival China, as the emerging Asian power celebrated its space ambitions and scientific prowess.

Chandrayaan-1 (Moon vehicle), a cuboid spacecraft built by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) blasted off from a southern Indian space center shortly after dawn in a boost for the country's ambitions to gain more global space business.

India's national television channels broadcast the countdown to the launch live. Some scientists thumped their chests, hugged each other and clapped as the rocket shot up into space.

Greeted with patriotism in the media, the launch appeared to have distracted India from an economic slowdown, collapsing stock prices and outbreaks of ethnic and religious violence.

India and China, two countries which can't afford to feed their respective populations, are somehow finding money (likely from the US in the form of borrowed, soon to be worthless dollars and foreign investment), have now made the jump into space.

This is a perfect symbol of our dystopic future: money being spent on insanity like space missions while people starve. I'm all for learning as much as possible about the universe, but first we should fix the problem with our over-regulated, pseudo-capitalist democracies around the world. Since the US has stuck their nose in everyone's business, it's the unfortunate reality today that news like this affects us all. If the US reined in its empire around the world and allowed free market economics to provide services and goods to the population, we wouldn't discuss socialized medicine and inefficient, bureaucratic social welfare programs.

Two choices in November: Coke vs. Pepsi; Vanilla vs. Chocolate; McDonalds vs. Burger King

...aaaaaaaand Obama vs. McCain.

Obama wants entitlements for all, because, hey, why not - that'll force people to accept how terribly our country is being run and further dig us into a hole of entertainment and self-gratification so we don't ask any tough questions of our leaders. By the way, um, how does this constitute "change"?

McCain doesn't really care much about immigration (remember, he's the guy that supported the most recent amnesty bill), so he also wants entitlements, indirectly, for most. He also considers the war in Iraq a success because his party leaders will insist on invading Iran to continue the world's colonization once Bush is out of office. And with all that money going to our defense budget, will it be any wonder when he wins in November, seeing as how he has a military background?

Money buys elections, people; your own votes don't even count when the Democrats openly debate what percentage of a delegate goes to each candidate, not even considering the popular vote for a second anymore. Democracy is already over.

Neither of these morons care that our country is being reverse-colonized by Mexico, and yet America is out there colonizing the rest of the planet (Iraq, Iran, Indonesia). What's that - did I just hear someone say Rome's final days? McCain definitely fits the bill for fiddle-player as the city burns due to decay from within and a population which doesn't care to protect the city, so why not vote for him?

Imagine what the Mexico reverse-colonialism would be like if they had a strong culture - like, I don't know, the Muslims who are invading Europe via illegal immigration and subsequent over-breeding to simply out-number the European natives? It's become so bad in Europe that Berlusconi was voted back into power recently in Italy to help stop the immigration crisis they're facing. Italy has reverse population growth; that is, Italian citizens are not breeding at replacement levels. As is the case in America (except we're even more growth-hungry when it comes to politics and the economy), Italy began accepting illegal Romanian and Albanian immigrants to do all those "jobs" (oh wait, Italy has none available even for their own citizens) that Italians don't want to do (sound familiar?). Finally, their citizens wisened up and are now fighting back a bit. That won't happen here with the consumer culture and power structure we have in place now. At least Italy still retains some hope.

As Corrupt.org advocates - End Democracy '08! I think McCain will push our society to hell faster than Obama. Obama only wants to tow the line, to keep diabetes prevalent in our society; to give entitlements to illegals to keep our economy growing so that he looks good when people continue to spend money on things they don't need and build up huge piles of debt; to keep people 'secure' in their jobs even as corporations move those jobs to India and China (who's going to stop them...and in the name of what; democracy, freedom?).

A vote for McCain is a vote to End Democracy - let's do it, people!

The Obama Future

It's not dystopic, like something you'd read about on cyberpunkreview.com. It's certainly not a utopia, either. Here's your Obama future:

[click]

Per an article on the current welfare state in the UK, the moral hazard of throwing money at people so they can spend it on junk food and entertainment is exactly this: they will never, ever want to get off their lazy asses and work. Welfare should be provided for subsistence only during times of healthy government and economy. Our government and economy is based on mindless consumer spending; giving money out to people so they can apply for credit cards and rack up huge amounts of debt by purchasing cars, flat-screen TVs, and Domino's pizza is a way for the government to spur economic activity - which has nothing to do with helping those in need. Welfare, in this application, is NOT a cure for anything; it is, in fact a symptom of larger problems at work in society.

Not that it makes much difference in the end, but Obama handing out entitlements to all will further bankrupt our economy, and force the Fed to print out more of those not-so-valuable-anymore dollar bills. Welcome to Obama's Third World. Unfortunately, our only other options include someone who really believes universal health care can ever work in this country, and a veteran who wants to increase our troop presence in Iraq and piss off the world even more.
